i can relate to things being too binary. this wasnt online it was irl but when Star Trek Discovery first came out i gave it a shot, wasnt my thing. no biggie. sometimes things just arent your thing...but when a friend asked if i wanted to watch with her and i said (word for word) "naw, aint my thing"..i got a 15 minute screeching lecture about how i must be a racist because i dont like it and then she never spoke to me again. like...wtf!?!. how does "aint my thing" escalate to "wheres youre white hood bitch?" i love Michelle Yeoh to death and beyond but the style and the script didnt grab me. big whoop. it doesnt make it bad. just it doesnt hold my attention. 🤷♀️
there was a big incelish right wing backlash over the show. i dont remember why exactly. aomething to do with a black captain and they changed everything. i think she assumed i didnt like it for the same reasons they did.
final thought is this speaks to yiur point...so many people screamed about how much they hated that show that i couldnt just be "not interested" ...it must necessarily mean i HATE IT for bigot reasons. (i know i do a lot of multiple posts and im working on that but im a little slow in some ways) anyway..ill shut up now.
