I hadn’t heard “hit” used like that prior to listening to you guys, but a while ago, I believe on MSNBC, I heard a pundit say something like “…and that hits for them,” and I think he was indeed a black guy.
I am laughing because instead of getting "turnt", I went to bed around 7pm due to tiredness & being unable to think of anything more interesting to do.
I bless the people who still party! Good for them. It's not my thing. Life has a lot too offer, and I can dance all night and on a table stone cold sober at 61!
I loathed beer until I had a drink of Lowenbrau (German beer) the same way I hated my mother's instant coffee until I was served REAL coffee... dang, no one told me these liquids could actually taste good!!!
I try to limit my whisky drank (various bourbons and Tullamore Dew) to Friday and Saturday nights because the following day, I am not operational until early afternoon. And I've got chores to do and yard flowers to tend.
I think going sober is a bit like retiring. When you announce it, you just know lots of people are thinking, “Awww, that’s too bad--I don’t want to lose my fun/productivity/meaning in life so I’m glad to keep drinking/drugging/working.” (I know I used to think that...)
And then you quit, and you realize what you were missing--so much of life wasted on the unpleasant affects of what you just quit! Now you can focus on yourself, wellness, and a happier life in the present.

Your faces in the beginning cracked me up.. thanks!

I had figured that the use of hit was a stage performer thing, as in a hit show or possibly like landing a joke.
I found the second week of sobriety to be the hardest and it got slightly easier each week after that.
