I get what you're saying about feeling bad that you're privileged to not have to worry about things that others have to worry about in an ongoing way. But I also want to note that having mental health issues is an actual disability, so in that particular arena, you're not privileged. You have to avoid going down certain paths so that you don't ruin your own health. I have a similar issue with not being able to do political posts on my FB page because I have PTSD and have bad reactions to conflicts as a result. So I set up a private group for the political memes that I can't post on my page, as a way of taking care of myself. Great episode. I'm always rooting for you.
'Don't be afraid to fail' can't be said enuf and it's surprising to see so many struggle getting past this! Take that step! It's hard tho, letting go and realizing that if you think it's good, then it's good. I think this also translates into your fear of your work affecting your child. I get it, but that is a short term situation (elementary/middle school) and those people who judge or pressure their children when it comes to friends, do you want your child interacting with them anyway? Keep doing what you love and what works for you and it all works out in the end and there isn't really and 'end' until you die so; Keep moving forward! Love listening to your 'rants' or whatever it is you want to talk about. Have a great day! 💜
Corey! Thank you so much for your heartfelt response to my question that was definitely written out of the chasm of writers block. I’m actually currently working on getting into an MFA program for Creative Writing! So here’s hoping I can take some advice to start. Side note: have you read Stephen King’s book “On Writing”? You should.
Hey Cho, talk about serendipity - I was just thinking about whether you'd be up for promoting my Substack just yesterday and here you are today asking us to hook you up.
I'm a long time member of the Skewniverse and you even read one of my POA emails on an early episode.
Please check out my Substack: https://vanessabrown.substack.com/. I've been writing on a website called Medium for a year now and released an eBook in 2021 but would like to get my Substack going. If you like what you read, watch, and hear, please give me a shoutout.
Wish I could post a photo because EXPLAINING EXACTLY how I'm doing would take a photo. But I'm getting paid to be a science Guinea pig and I look like the end half of clockwork orange but sillier and without the eye thing. Now I listen...
That was really thoughtful advice abt writing and the creative process. It's a bitch and a half to try to turn anxiety off, especially in regards to the unending hellscape that is the news these days, and trying to pay attention to that on top of caring for a brand new human is A Lot. Saving your emotional bandwidth to take care of your family and your mental health first...it's like making sure you put your own oxygen mask on before you try to help somebody else. Otherwise, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Take Care Mr Corey and Chat!
Thank you so much Corey. That's a lovely birthday gift. Have a fabulous day.

I haven’t but since this is the 12th time it’s been recommended I think I have to!
On Writing is very good. Highly recommend. :)

Much love, Vanessa.
You got it, Vanessa! Subscribed! It should pop up on my page as a recommendation as well!
