1...my grandma (god rest her soul) felt guilty and like she was a failure if she couldn’t feed you at least some little thing, even if you were only there for a few minutes.

2...wish folks could just enjoy entertainment for its entertainment value without feeling the need to label it “theirs” or “ours”

And remember that "diversity hire" includes women. Women have made a lot of progress, but that's because all the women before us have fought tooth and nail for what we've gotten.

Diversity hires should be the tie breaker when all the criteria is similar. It doesn't mean hire them just because they're diverse.

To the privileged, equality feels like oppression. That’s why they invent terms like “reverse racism. Ain’t no goddamn thing.

With regards to the swinging of the pendulum, I completely agree. If you found out that a fellow white person doing the same exact job as you, with the same exact qualifications as you and had the same exact experience as you was making $10 more an hour for 5 years, you would not only demand that same pay, but you would also demand the backpay! It’s not enough just to trickle the pendulum closer to the middle, it really needs to swing to the other side a little bit for there to be true equality, and fairness. Dumb cunty, privileged white folk don’t realize this.

You’re 1,000% correct that dumb people don’t have a monopoly on one political side

This country runs on oppression and whenever the oppressed gain a bit of ground the oppressors expand on or change tactics to maintain their control. We've had a few successes like the 13th Amendment and the 1960s giving us things like the Civil and Voting Rights Acts, but the Jim Crow Laws in between were the white supremacists trying to regain control after slavery was outlawed. Shit, just realized those things are about 100 years apart...the last third of my life is gonna suck if this is a 100 year pattern...

Great rant, Corey. I read another Substack this morning that points out that the rich people who run things are (as so often) using racism to distract from the fact that they themselves are responsible for what happened on that plane because they have been fighting regulations. This is a good read and a good Substaci to follow: https://popular.info/p/loose-bolts-open-door-to-racism

Oh shit, dude, I don't even have kids and I HATE that little narc elf. You'll have fun the first year, maybe two, and after that you'll be over it but it'll be too late, the little fucker will be MANDATORY UNTIL YOUR KID KNOWS THE TRUTH. He will OWN YOU. And he's a SQUEALER BITCH.

May God have mercy on your soul.

Never forget, 50% of us are below average.

9/11 did for y'll what 22nov63 did for me. WAKE UP!!!!

All that stuff you say about 'last childhood' was true for me in the 50s and '60s - EXCEPT for such shootings. Grew up in StL - there was a murder a day on average.

When we were kids we were playing - you guys were practicing.

WRITING IS HARD. Think the three act with 2nd act pivot is a GREAT idea.

The ascent to power began with a decade and a half of the murder of effective leaders for positive change. The murderers are running the country - now starting to die out.

The oppressed have the best comics.
