Animals in the wild will hide when injured or in pain -- because being injured makes them vulnerable to predators. If you think of men as predators (I don't -- I think women are the predators) that may be why they refuse to admit something is wrong when it clearly is. They don't want to look weak.

My therapist fucked up my entire world view by literally just asking “Why?” when I explained I hadn’t gone to the doctor about severe, 11/10 on the pain scale, persistent stomach pain. I was like “What do you mean?” and she asked “Why are you suffering when you could get answers and possibly stop the pain?” and I did not have an answer for her. Because I grew up poor and something better be gushing or broken before we go to the doctor? Then how did I end up in therapy in the first place. Because I figured stomachs just hurt sometimes? Knew damn well not to this degree. Because...suffering is just what Men™ do? ...Well shit, doc. Good one.
