Hey Substackers! After a couple weeks on the IR list, my leg is finally healed and I can get back to doing what I do best: rambling about stuff in the woods! Today Im giving a SORT OF pep talk, and I hope you all enjoy it very much! (other topics include cutting toxic people out of your life… but talked about in a funny and charming way, you know how i be 😂)
You are absolutely right that spending time with people who drag you down is not a good use of the time we have on the planet. I have learned how to release people with love, and I have not looked back on any of those decisions. I have rich friendships. Love you.
I absolutely love these talks! I love your other rants too but everyone needs to hear this shit regularly! And YES to the once you’ve been to therapy you do realize how many people would benefit from it! So spot on!!!!!!! I automatically started say “yes” out loud when you finished that sentence. I’ve never thought about it before!!
Loved the talk, and I'm so glad you're feeling better. I'm about 20 years older than you and am so glad to hear you learning important life lessons and sharing them with us all. Love you!
This has been debilitating for me. Walking unassisted in early February, using a walker and a cane by early March. Seeing you back in the park ✔️thanks Corey! 💜
Thank you, Thank you BCD! I’m thrilled your leg is functioning the way it should and you are out enjoying fresh air and sunshine. Because that means I get to enjoy your talk. Look, I’m pretty much 30 years older than you and, especially today, you spoke my heart! It’s a good thing to be able to commiserate and I am so glad you realized that toxic people have no business in your life, now! It took me nearly to a few years back to know and a couple more to do something about it. Thank you again for the way you talk about real stuff! 🐞

I'm gonna disagree a tiny bit on toxic folks because even family can be toxic and sometimes you have to pull away from them. You don't have to exclude them from your life, but you can set some hard boundaries. Doesn't mean you are a piece of shit any more than it means they are, but sometimes saying "No" is the best way to maintain a healthy relationship. If it pisses them off, then they aren't worth your time to begin with.
Be careful about "powering through it", buddy. If you overdo it, you can set yourself back. I've seen it time and again in myself. Glad your leg is better, though.
HE WALKS! HE TALKS!!!
Good for you. No more rasslin' dude!

As a fellow daily walker. I understand how big of a deal it is to be back on the path! Don’t over do it yet though.

Watching this from my hospital bed and I thank ya! Motivation!! L4-S1 fusion.
72 years old, and on 3rd-week post covid, wondering if I'll ever feel good again ✌️💙😎
Listened to this while doing my (mostly) daily 5K and ooo-weee, that spring sunshine feels good!
Thank you Corey it's just what I needed
Thanks for the motivational park chat. These and Putting on Airs are my favorites from you.
