Are you a "Whovian?" I have the same Dr. Who t-shirt -- sleeves intact . I love how you break down comedy. Having tried stand up a million years ago, I respect your craft. I understand how much practice it takes to stand in front of people and sound fresh every night. Thank you for sharing your comedic genius. Glad you are feeling better!
Fantastic! I can comment on these!! Won't take long until someone pays me $10 to unsubscribe (and that someone may be Corey!). I LOVE these segments. I love to talk about comedy. I love to talk about language. And I love to hear people talk about it.
Corey framed the Clinton joke so well. "I got it for" is absolutely the funny here. That open interpretation that only works in colloquial English. Corey also talked about how jokes like these differ based on audience bias.
Let's say you don't get the joke for the linguistic aspect. You are looking at the superficial meaning. Is the joke a knock on Hillary (she is ugly, like a dog, etc), or is it a knock on Bill (he is a sexist and devalues women)? Is it both? Is it just the play on words?
When you look at some comics or audiences who deride "cancel culture" or some such, a typical response is something like, "I made a joke saying that Hillary Clinton like most women is a bitch and a dog and people get mad but when this other guy said the dog thing 20 years ago nobody got mad at him."
I start banging my head on the table. The joke is "I got it for." The Clinton aspect gave it more depth because of the zeitgeist. Which, to me, is why it is a joke that belongs in a book about jokes. It has depth.
I have no comment on the Leno joke, other than poli-sigh.
love love the Tardis t-shirt.. Who is your favorite Dr? I've enjoyed all of them so far..

Good Bill impersonation ! Love the t-shirt by the way.
They do jokes that play on words in Japanese too.
I found translating jokes between the two languages is EXTREMELY difficult because comedy is so culturally and linguistically bound.
Physical comedy is often easily transferable though.
Solid Clinton impression Corey!
Hope you are feeling better and not pushing yourself. Feeling puny is no fun.
You seem like you're breathing much better...love to see it. Email me back, hooker.
So glad you are back to your healthy, happy self!
