Hey Corey! Work sucks atm so I’m in “ketchup” mode on the weekends. Here are my thoughts as a fellow sufferer and nurse who teaches a nutrition course to nursing students...

Cholesterol is made in the liver so if a food had a mother or came from something that had a mother, it has cholesterol.

If you like ranch flavor, use the ranch powder to dip your crunchy veggies in instead of fully loaded dressing. Most of the bad stuff is in the creamy part and the ranch seasoning is so tasty, even in non-creamy form.

Get a bone-in turkey breast about 7 or 8 pounds. Season the thawed turkey breast (I use a salt free poultry blend and some “fake salt” potassium chloride) and put that breast in your crock pot, skin side up. Put on the lid and cook for one hour on high, then turn it down to low and cook another 8 hours. Put NO liquid or anything else in there and whatever you do, do NOT open the lid at all!! When it’s done...take it out, let it rest, and then pull the meat off the bone. You’ll have a nice container of juicy turkey meat you can use for all kinds of dishes or sandwiches across several meals. (Or just grab a bite when you have that snacky bingey feeling) The broth that cooks out can be strained and used as well.

If you like creamy soup, try cooking a veggie or a blend of veggies that taste good together in some flavorful broth. Strain the veggies out of the broth but save that broth. Blend the veggies smooth and stir in enough of the broth to give you the soup consistency that you like. Stir in unblended veggies, shrimp, chicken, turkey, clams, or whatever you like if you want texture.

Re the above...my fave is to cook 4-6 yellow squash and a couple big onions in water seasoned with Better than Bouillon lobster base, curry powder, and garlic powder. I blend it all together in the pot with my stick blender when the veggies are soft. I then eat it with a garnish of a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a nice dollop op fat free sour cream or Greek yogurt. Extra good with some chopped grilled shrimp too.

Mad respect for you taking your health in hand for that sweet little feller!! Bain is super lucky 😊

More power to ya if you can attempt vegan cheese!

Do you cook much with things like wild rice, rye or wheat berries, lentils? I'll use those as a base for a salad/pilaf that can be its own meal or a side dish for meat or fish. Rye and wheat berries have an earthy, nutty flavor and mix well with roasted sweet potatoes/squash/root vegetables, but that's true of lentils and wild rice too. Just tonight I mixed together roasted sweet potato, mushrooms, wild rice, fresh sage and a vinaigrette of hazelnut oil and maple syrup - don't know how cholesterol friendly it all is but it feels healthy, and its a fall/winter comfort food for me :)

Hey Cho!

So.. I just started that there Wegovy and you wanna talk about a mindfk.. whoa dude. It like, flipped a switch in my brain. I don't even WANT that greasy shiz anymore. I just want veggies and eggs and fruit and SOO MUCH WATER. When they did my labs my cholesterol was also "sky high", I'm pre-diabetic and I've gained 50lbs in the last 3 years. I'm almost 50 so I kinda feel like this is my last best chance to save my fat ass. I don't want to be like this for the rest of my life. It's not like I was eating super bad and was lazy or anything.. just.. well.. body chemistry and I can do better. I didn't realize HOW MUCH BETTER I can do. I got 17000 steps yesterday.

Side note, I'm getting pretty mad at people who say this shit is the lazy way. I'm here to tell you it isn't lazy. What it did was literally CHANGE MY MIND. It's wild man.

Anyway, keep killin it (and not yourself lol)! Love ya like Lean Chicken!

If you're a fan of tuna salad, try swapping avocado for the mayo. I saw a video of it being made and was a bit skeptical of the yumminess of the combination, but I had a bunch of avocados that needed to be used up before they spoiled, so I figured it was worth a shot. Holy crap, did that thing hit!

This sub hits for me. Becoming a father at 43, I am now in the best shape of my life. You keep benchmarking your child's stage of development with your age and you also realize you are about to be around a bunch of younger parents. No one wants to see a graduate of high school waving at their dad sitting in a rascal scooter. Fuck a bunch of that
