Hi, I’m from Washington state. We don’t have a lot of loud bugs, or really any loud bugs, but fortunately we also don’t have the humidity you have.

Last summer I drove to Atlanta (where my daughter now lives) to sell her my Prius. It was late August, and it was so hot and humid, I never did any sightseeing the few days I was there before I flew home.

I love your posts and videos, and I was really glad I got to see you when you were here in Portland.

Keep Georgia Blue!

I'm in Salem, Oregon. I've seen you and the boys 3 times at the Helium. This week the weather has been over 100 every day. The butterflies seem to like it. They're pretty much silent, but I have been seeing more huge Swallowtails. I live in the Willamette Valley, where garden nursery stock and grass seed is grown everywhere. We don't have MTG, but we're way too close to a bunch of Proud Boys and 111%ers.

I was sitting in my front yard last week listening and I adore that sound. It brings back so many memories of summer. I think cicadas do 'it'...bury their eggs and the eggs come out in 7 years. But there is a new crop every year, because I've been lucky enough to have 62 summers in the south and every blessed one included listening to those bugs. Collected shoe boxes of their shells too when I was younger.

Feel better Sugar. (BTW...from southern MS)

Different broods are on different cycles - in Cincinnati, we had them every year, to one amount or another. But every 17 years , all hell breaks loose. I love the sound of cicadas. It's the sound of summer. <3

Thanks, Corey!

Venus, TX here. My parents live out in Sweetwater, and it is just all dry and dead and stubbly. Not to mention hot. Part of my childhood was spent in East Texas though, and you are making music for my soul with the cicadas, the trees and the sheer greenness. Just feeling surrounded by life. Where I am is dead/ failed cornfields with nary a tree in sight. I hate it. Every time my husband travels for work he takes pictures of the trees for me 😂 He knows that is one of my top criteria for relocation if we ever move.

Hey Corey - from central Minnesota. We have cicadas, not sure the cycle, but I'm pretty sure it's every year. Love them - the sound of them is so soothing and brings back warm fuzzies from my childhood. Love watching/listening to you - you're a welcome relief to the craziness:)

I’m from North Carolina! Yes I also like the sounds of the cicadas in summer. But I just had a new neighbor move nearby that asked me if the trees scream everywhere here 🤣. Why yes sir they do.

I grew up in Wisconsin along the lake, halfway between the two stadiums. Now I live in northern Illinois, halfway between the lake and the Mississippi River.

As a note, my allergies improved an unbelievable amount once I started regular cardiovascular exercise so that might help you as well.

Lifetime Illinoisan here. I've lived in Chicago just shy of 20 years, but spent my entire pre-college life in a small (3300 person) town in Southern IL. I visit my fam with my "city boys" a couple weeks a year & love the summer nighttime sounds in the country (crickets, cicadas, whatever).

I feel you on the "is it COVID?" allergies. I'm allergic to everything in the great outdoors EXCEPT grass. Thankful for that 1 freebie - fresh-cut grass is the best summertime smell.

Hey brother. I’m an Honorable Kentucky Colonel from North Alabama. I love watching you walk in the woods. I live about 10 minutes from Bankhead National Forest and I go hiking at least once a week. Great way to clear my mind. I love all the stuff you do. POA is appointment listening. Cannot miss it.

Cloverport Kentucky here, nestled in a bend of the Ohio River. Truly, nothing compares to the sound of a Summer night. I too have overindulged on fresh, garden tomatoes and feel no guilt. Seems I've grown super emotional in my old age (71) and when you talked about your regret for not taking advantage of the park for so long I almost started crying. Try Flonase for your allergies. It was a life-changer for me. Love you Corey.
