My hubby recommended cinnamon toothpicks every time you want to smoke. I miss smoking more than anything else so far!

What’s your favorite book of all-time and why is it Lonesome Dove? Also, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the book Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harrari. (The audiobook is excellent if sitting down and digging in to the print version isn’t doable right now.) That book blew my mind and I think you’d love it if you haven’t already read it.

Please, please quit the vaping as soon as your craving lets you. I took care of my favorite sis while she was dying of lung cancer. (Yes, she was a longtime smoker)

It was so hard on her and everyone who loved her. I don’t wish that for you or your family.

Cinnamon flavored toothpicks weened me off smoking when I was 35. Not sure where to buy anymore, they were at my local C-Store back in the day. Mind you that was a long time ago. Good luck and thanks for all you do!

Subject to talk about: when are you most content?

Talk about shows and movies you’re watching. That’s always a good time.

Also, when you feel like eating at inappropriate times to curtail cravings for vape/smoking, try getting a bunch of different sugar free mints or candies you enjoy. And drink lots of water. Not to sound weird, but replacing one oral habit with something else can often distract long enough to get through the crave monster. Just sayin.’ All the best to y’all!

I so feel you. I’ve done such so many times. The important thing is not to be ashamed. Acknowledge it and move on. Because you’re quitting nicotine, this may happen again. No worries, you’re young and will hop back on that wagon because you are strong.

I’ve dealt with weight my whole life. For the most part, I figured out what helps me. Maybe these suggestions will work for you too, maybe not. But, I thought I’d share.

1. When you’re not hungry or know you don’t need to eat that piece of cake offered you, see if you can take it with you. Then eat 3 bites a day until it’s gone. If you can’t, know you’ll be able to eat cake in the future.

2. When I feel hungry, but know it’s a bad time to eat, I drink La Croix flavored water. It fills me up and has taste.

3. When you’re craving sweets, pop a hard suck candy in your mouth. It takes longer to dissolve with less calories.

4. Try this ratio. 10% carbs, 50% veggie 40% protein at meals.

These things help me.

You’re gonna be a fantastic dad!

I understood everything in this post, except the indifference to pecans.😃 Grapes are mandatory. And PS, who doesn’t eat unexpected chicken salad on crescents? You are only human.😀

Regarding future posts, I’d love to hear how you have succeeded in improving your habits. For myself, I have 4 grown kids and 6 precious grandbabies with #7 due in July. After 40 years hard work, I am retiring next month. I have absolutely everything to live for, but I can’t quit cigarettes. I have tried everything, and berate myself every damn day. Maybe what’s worked for you, will help others. I, for one, would love to hear.

My list: Music/Movies that Really affected you. Differences between how you were and how you are. The death of the "old country store" (Oh I have a lot of opinions on this). Writers/Journalists/Historians. Maybe I'm being a "papaw" with these subjects lol. At any rate, looking forward to hearing/seeing what you talk about. Keep it up and appreciate and love you man!

Had a major decision 5 years ago while in hospital with flu and pneumonia, I had smoked cigarettes and pot for 40 years. When I got out of hospital I said self, you have to give up something. So cigarettes are out and weed is staying. Made the right decision. 😆

No judgment from the lady who used to pass out on the couch and wake up to the netflix “are you still watching?” screen with one hand still lodged in a bag of nacho cheese doritos... there’s never a convenient time to get the bad habits under control, so good on ya for being honest with your accountabilibuddies. I quit smoking by default in 2017 when my depression was so bad that I couldn’t get out of bed, much less track down cigs. I do NOT recommend that method of quitting, btw, on account of all the misery, but I bring it up because sometimes circumstance makes the tough decisions for you. Here comes a kid, Corey, so it’s as good a time as any to get your shit together. We love you.

I find it interesting that your urge was to eat more fat in that chicken salad - eliminate the croissants and I bet you'd've been satiated a lot sooner.
