Kurt Cobain's cover of "In The Pines" (the "Unplugged" show) My favorite.

I KNEW you were going to vote Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You" as your number one cover. Knew it, knew it, knew it!

Also: just listened to Weekly Skews -- your comment about how "fat free" actually meant "replace with corn syrup". I never trusted the "fat free " label. I always thought it meant they didn't charge extra for the fat.

Might be my age, but damn if the album of covers called Loving You by Bobbie Nelson & Amanda Shires isn't near perfect. Bobbie's piano playing is beautiful and Amanda's vocals fit the songs so well

Best covers ever involved Credence Clearwater Revival. Ike and Tina Turner’s cover of CCR’s Proud Mary and CCR’s cover of Marvin Gay’s Heard Through the Grapevine. All versions are pure gold.

The Swans version of "Can't Find My Way Home" was great. Childish Tones version of "There She Goes" is probably better than the original version. The Fall did a great "F-Oldin Money". so many great covers really.

Cover songs are a cash cow for song writers if they hit #1! Tracy Chapman is probably making more today than she did when Fast Car came out originally.
