With something as old as Star Wars, I think those who called themselves “huge Star Wars fans“ are recalling the wonder and amazement they experienced when they started watching as a kid and they keep thinking (stupidly) that that is going to be recreated, but they are looking at the material through adult eyes with more discernment so they are perpetually disappointed.
Bill Maher sucks now I stopped watching him more than a year ago because after about three shows where I just wanted to slap the shit out of him, I had no qualms about never watching his show again. I was a big fan for a while before that.
Yeah I mean I was never a devout listener and only tuned in when he was interviewing a comedy legend or some such (the jay Leno episode is one of my fav podcasts of all time) but once it stopped being what I liked, I left (and that was before Trump lol. So I’m not trying to act holier than thou, it just wasn’t worth my time anymore so I listened to different shit and didn’t make a federal case out of it lol)
