*AUDIO* Did We Learn Nothing?
Not being a follower of Civil War minutia, I have a question. The monument notes that the spot was the field headquarters Major Gen. Rosecrans on Sept. 20, 1863, from 10:00 am - 11:15 am. So, the headquarters was in place for only 1 1/4 hours? What?
I always love your essays!
Heather Cox Richardson wrote a really good book called, “How The South Won The Civil War”
I’n her book she argued that the ideology of the Confederates continued on by planting seeds in the West.
I think the battle between a hierarchical society vs a multi-racial, multi-pluralistic democratic society is the cross our country must bear.
I have faith in us Americans.
